Messages not sending or chat not loading
Resolve delayed Teams messages and loading issues, especially after Windows updates.
Step-by-step fix · 5 steps
- 1
Sign out and sign back in — click your profile picture (top right) → Sign Out, then sign in again with your work email.
- 2
Quit Teams from the system tray (bottom-right corner of the screen), then reopen it from the Start menu.
- 3
Clear the Teams cache: close Teams fully → press Win + R → type %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams → delete the contents of the Cache, blob_storage, databases, GPUcache, IndexedDB, Local Storage, and tmp folders (do not delete the folders themselves).
- 4
Open Teams in Chrome at teams.microsoft.com — your chats, channels, and calendar are identical to the desktop app.
- 5
If nothing works, restart the laptop.
Tip
If Teams on desktop is broken, signing into teams.microsoft.com in Chrome works immediately while the desktop issue is investigated.
